Starting Your Own Business – How It Changed My Life

Hello, and welcome to my blog.

Two-and-a-half years ago (in the middle of a recession), I walked away from a good job with a good salary and benefits – to start my own business as a consultant, writer and trainer. And today, I couldn’t be happier. Starting your own business is a major step, and real life changer. And in my case, it changed most things for the better.

Starting Your Own BusinessMy goal here is to provide some insights and guidance for those of you who are considering starting your own business. If I can help you in your search for answers, and in any way make it a little easier for you to reach an informed decision about whether starting your own business is right for you, then I’m happy to do so.

For me, the freedom I’ve experienced, the opportunity to do work I truly enjoy – and the potential to build a business that truly rewards me for my efforts is thrilling. If that sounds like something you strive for, then starting your own business may be right for you.

Starting Your Own Business is NOT for Everyone!

Yes, starting your own business can provide a lot of benefits. But it is not for everyone. There are risks, many challenges and the potential for failure. If you are currently employed, starting your own business full time means giving up the security of a paycheck, whatever benefits you receive, etc.

Of course, as we have all learned over the past few years, there really is NO security in the workplace anymore. But again, you should consider carefully whether the potential rewards of starting your own business outweigh the risks.

There are Many Options for Starting Your Own Business

One of the most exciting things about the world today is how many options there are for starting your own business, and how easy and relatively inexpensive it can be to get things going. There are many types of online businesses, franchises (of all kinds, and all investment levels), numerous network marketing companies, real estate and investing related businesses, etc.

In many cases, all you need is a computer and Internet access to start some kinds of businesses.

AND if you’re not ready quite yet to take the full “plunge,” you can start many businesses in your spare time, working nights and weekends, to see how it goes. Once things are up and running and you are generating some money, then you can decide if it’s enough to be your full time profession.
